Children Classes: ( are currently on a break during the summer...check back this fall!)
Nursery – This class meets upstairs in our nursery. Our precious little ones enjoy the opportunity to play with one another and then gather to listen to a short Bible story and do an activity page.
Preschool and Kindergarten – The children meet downstairs in a room off the fellowship hall. These energetic, lively ones listen to a Bible story lesson with fun activities.
First and Second Grade – These fun loving children meet downstairs for their lesson in which they learn how to use the Bible, listen to a Bible story, and participate in a games and craft activities.
Third and Fourth Grade – This busy, lively group of kids enjoy and have a great time acting out the Bible stories. They are very engaged in learning by participating in sword drills, Bible trivia, and becoming acolytes. This is just a sampling of the great activities of this class which meets downstairs in a room off the fellowship hall.
Fifth and Sixth Grade – This talkative, caring, active group of preteens meet upstairs off the sanctuary to learn how to become Disciples of Christ. The group uses a variety of materials to encourage meaningful discussions.
Teenagers - Breakfast Club Youth Group 7th through 12th graders are meeting downstairs in the Youth Room. All youth are invited to the breakfast club every Sunday. During this time we will be feeding our stomachs with yummy breakfast treats, quenching our thirst with delicious juices and coffee, but most importantly feeding our soul while discussing God's word.
Adult Classes: ( may or may not be meeting this summer...check with class members...)
The Asbury Class is a lively group of adults that use a variety of materials for instruction. The class chooses topics for study according to interest and by general consensus. Teaching duties are shared by three class members with other class members taking on special topics at time. The entire class enjoys the interesting discussions that our studies evoke. This class has committed to financially supporting Josh and Erin Shaffer of Won by One to Jamaica for many years now. The class also provides support to church projects, local missions, and other concerns as needs arise. Regular fundraising events which allow us to support our mission projects are a Soup and Sandwich luncheon held during the cold winter months and our International Hot Dog Day that starts off picnic season in May each year. An aluminum can recycling efforts earns us additional funds and helps the environment. The church family has helped us with this effort to be good stewards of the resources the Lord has provided us. The donations received at these fundraisers as well as our weekly collections, make commitment to these worthy missions possible. Working together on the common goal of reaching out in service for the Lord through these projects has developed a feeling of fellowship that blesses the members of this group.
Coffee With the Pastor
The Coffee With the Pastor group meets in Pastor Tom’s office. Adults are invited join in on the conversation about how we can be relevant as a church in our present day culture.
Horizon class is an adult Sunday School class. We are a fairly small class, and we meet in the fellowship hall during the Sunday School hour. Our goal is to learn more about God’s word and how it applies to our daily lives through short study guides, video series, discussion, and fellowship. We have a mission project of supporting a child in Indonesia through World Vision International, and we have raised funds for this by providing a small lunch after Sunday services twice a year.
The Emmaus Class is open to all adults. Our class is seeking the truth of God’s word through various studies.
The Wesley class invites all who would like to share in discussions and learn more about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are mission minded and support several local and national programs. We participate in a variety of SUMC activities and meet several times a year in fellowship with class members and guests. We welcome all who would like to join us.
